Dr Rukhsana Hussain MBChB MRCP (2009) MRCGP (2013) DRCOG
(Founder and Director of Pennine GP Learning)

Dr Hussain currently works as an Independent Locum General Practitioner in her hometown of Halifax and surrounding areas. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Sheffield in 2003. Since then she has worked in a broad range of medical specialties including Haematology, Cardiology, Renal Medicine and Elderly Medicine. Her initial aspiration was to pursue a career in Hospital Medicine. During this time she completed the MRCP (UK) examination in order to achieve this aim.

In 2009, for personal and professional reasons, she made the difficult decision to leave hospital medicine and train towards becoming a General Practitioner. A decision she has never regretted. Dr Hussain trained through the Pennine VTS scheme where she gained further valuable experience in specialties such as Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Palliative Care as well as exposure to several different General Practice settings. She qualified as a GP in April 2013.

Dr Hussain is passionate about General Practice, Evidence-Based Medicine and Medical Education. She believes a strong commitment to professional development is the key to providing the best possible care for patients.

Her desire to ensure patients receive excellent care was one of the reasons that led her to found The Pennine GP Learning Group. She hopes that this will allow GPs to share knowledge and experience, and as a result improve care for all their patients.
